@izsmrpickle Well it would all depend on your definition of honorable. I respect the Norse in a way because they were badass, no doubt. But most ancient people, especially the Norse vikings, were violent murderers. Odinism almost completely calls for you to be this way; it inspires war even more than Christianity does. Not exactly what I would call honorable.
I prefer Odinism to any form of Christianity because just as you said, it is about war, death, and honor. Where as Christianity is about subduing to a being stronger then you, and living your life on your knees begging for forgiveness. I am eager to see Valhalla because I know when I die I have lived an honorable life on my feet. Would you be able to say the same?
Thank you so much for posting these Norse mythological stories! I’ve never known much about Norse mythology, but now I realize that it is far better than Greek mythology as far as its creativity and its virtuous gods (the Greek gods were not as merciful and pious as the Norse ones). It’s no wonder these stories inspired Tolkien to pursue the Lord of the Rings which makes me wonder if the ring Draupnir had any impact.
Disturbing? I thought they were pretty accurate! I for one believe in mythology but feel that the ancients couldn’t comprehend the god’s technology, therefore that is were the embellishment comes in! Maybe Thor’s chariot was a spaceship!!!

@dakotadenverdexter Very few cultures in that time period did not exemplify their warriors.

Its not so strange that the Vikings from Scandinavia was barbaric in the way they was when their whole religion was about war, death and honor. ^^
